Enter the Young Innovators Competition at ITU Telecom World 2012

ITU Telecom is proud to announce the Young Innovators Competition, an integral component of ITU Telecom World 2012, the leading platform for high-level networking, strategic debate and knowledge-sharing, taking place in Dubai from 14 – 18 October. Under the theme of Youth Innovation for Development, this year’s competition is open to 18-25 year old social entrepreneurs the world over and is a unique opportunity to showcase your innovation and fresh digital thinking that can change the world for the better.

Showcase your visions
Do you have what it takes to be the next social entrepreneur?

Showcase your thinking in either of the two categories; Concepts, or well-researched ideas that have not yet been implemented, and Projects, where on-going operations require support to scale impact.

Submissions are welcomed online until 1 July 2012, demonstrating innovative ICT solutions to pressing developmental challenges in one of eight core areas:

Cybersecurity
Education
Empowerment of Women
Environmental Sustainability Human Rights
Transparency
Youth Employment



Benefits
Twelve finalists will be selected by 1 September 2012 and will receive fellowship funding to attend ITU Telecom World 2012. At the Event, finalists will enjoy a unique set of benefits including:

Chance to attend ITU Telecom World 2012 in Dubai
Opportunities to showcase their initiatives on a truly global scale, both online in the run-up to the event and at the centrally-located InnovatorSpace
Mentorship: one-to-one sessions with top level representatives of various sectors Opportunities to network with high-level international delegates from government and industry
Training workshops focused on developing entrepreneurial skills
A chance to present your innovation in front of mentors and high profile participants.

Awards
Winners in both Concept and Project categories will be presented with awards at the close of the event on 18 October. Depending on the category up to five or ten thousand Swiss Francs will be awarded, as well as access to ongoing support from mentors throughout the coming year, invaluable visibility on the event website and membership of the Young Innovators Programme community, building a network of innovative digital thinkers amongst young people across the globe.
